Okay boys and girls, here we go. After
a lackluster showing at last year's Night of Champions, I
have taken some time to plan my assault for the 07' season,
and here is what I have come up with so far.
After a great deal of soul searching,
and interviewing people, I have decided to put my team together
for the 07' NOC and following shows. I have decided to elicit
the knowledge of Fred Smalls, who owns the Gold's Gym I go
to In Newark DE. Fred is a National level competitor who,
will be a pro very soon. His own physique is incredible and
has all the roundness and fullness of Flex Wheeler, and the
thinckness of Ronnie. But that is not the reason I have put
him at the helm of my contest prep. Freddy knows me, knows
me well, and has seen me at my best and my worst. He understands
my body, it's flaws, and it's possibilities. He can really
hone in on what I need to be the best this year. Also, i have
seen every competitor that Fred has put on stage and I can
tell you, the guy never misses. Every competitor, whether
it be bodybuilding, fitness or fiqure-They are always tight,
dry, and ready....Every one!! He is a consumate professional
and runs a tight ship. I certainly would recommend him to
anyone in that area, as he has a companty called "Above
and Beyond Physiques" a personal training business geared
to all walks of life, whether you are a pro athlete(ME) or
a soccor mom, looking to get into shape, he can do it all.(Shameless
Plug!!).
I met with Fred last night and he
tested my bodyfat and weighed me. I currently am 9% bodyfat
@ 267lbs. I am quite happy with this as a starting point.
Freddy then composed a diet regimen and supplement as well.
You may ask" You're Jack London for christ sake!! Why
do You need a trainer/coach???" Well, good question,
but even the best, like tiger woods has a coach, someone who
has a professional eye, can critique, guide and master. Also,
sometimes it's just easier for an athlete to not have to think
about these things...Just go on autopilot and focus on training
intensity.
I have also enlisted Teri
Mangini for my team, as she is a an up and coming competitor,
with a fierce competitive streak and a will that would move
mountains. A girl?? WOW! Well, you should see her do 90 pound
dumbell incline pressess or 500lbs rack deadlifts!! She is
fucking strong! And she has the endurance to keep up with
me, as not many do. I will also be trainng with Jimmy Vest
periodically down in Maryland, Jimmy, who I'm sure you all
know, is a friggin beast in his own right, and I will be competing
against him again this year. I got lucky last year, and he
missed his peak, but this year will be different and he will
be a force. I just love this guy, heart and soul all the way.
A Real freind, I consider him a brother, seriously. Jimmy
has shown me and taught me so much over the last year, and
I thank him for that, and Jimmy, if you are listenening, I
won't ever let you down again. EVER, I'm lucky to have you
around. Okay, enough with the mush. Jimmy also wants to take
me to train at the famed Nazereth Barbell, where the strongest
in the world are. Gene Ryshlak
and the like. I used to be a pretty good powerlifter so I
am excited abouit that. Being around guys like Jimmy, Brian
Weston, and Jeff Mcvicar, well, only good can come of that.
Training will be different, focusing
on Quads and arms further, to bring them up with the rest.
Big volume will be the name of the game, 20 sets for quads,
30 sets for back, big time...Even for me.
Diet, well for now, big time 600 grams
carbs/400 protein. Freddy will cycle my carbs from 600-300
every 2 days, to get my body used to it. Well thats's about
it for now, this all starts full blast Dec 8th, so I will
get back to you all in a month. Any questions, just e-mail
me.
